Wine and solidarity go well together especially during this hard times. Helping those in difficulty due to the Covid-19 pandemic is the reason “Grapeful” was born, a project created by three companies, Talenti, Canalicchio di Sopra and Cortonesi, whose proceeds will go to the Solidarity Fund, the initiative launched by the Municipality of Montalcino for those affected financially by the Coronavirus emergency.
Those who will donate money to the solidarity fund of the Municipality of Montalcino will receive a free gift box of solidarity containing Talenti, Canalicchio di Sopra and Cortonesi’s wines. The wineries have donated 30 boxes of 6 bottles each (1 bottle of Rosso di Montalcino Doc 2018 and 1 bottle of Brunello di Montalcino Docg 2015). By sending an email to info@grapeful.it you will receive instructions on how to donate and get the free gift box.
But “Grapeful” aims to go beyond this emergency, hoping to become a framework for future charitable and solidarity projects.
In the meantime, celebrations for the 40 years of Brunello di Montalcino’s DOCG go printed on the prestigious US magazine “Wine Spectator” which pays homage to Brunello in the latest edition of May 2020. Brunello was the first Italian wine to receive the appellation of “Denomination of Controlled and Guaranteed Origin” in 1980, when the production was around 63,000 bottles per year (now more than 10 million bottles are sold).
Since its inception in 1967, the Brunello di Montalcino Wine Consortium has protected and encouraged this consecrated land, promoting discipline and meticulous attention into the vineyards and cellars.
