Wine can tell many different stories. The one of Tommasi Viticoltori is a journey to discover the perfect match between tradition and innovation, between craftsmanship and wine excellence, as a proof of the ancient bond of a family with its land, the Valpolicella Classica and the wines that represent it.
This story began in 1902, when Giacomo Battista Tommasi bought the first 3 hectares of the family property, and continues today, with the fourth generation of Tommasi family, and the 500 hectares of owned vineyards.
Tommasi’s Wine Tour is an experience that excites from the first moment. The visit is conceived as a journey into the world of wine and into the history of the family, summarized in the movie “Heritage leaves a trace” which introduces the tour and represents the careful craftsmanship that has always distinguished Tommasi’s winemaking, and continues through the most significant dates that have marked the stages of a great winemaking tradition.
The wine tour goes through the cellar, and allows you to fully grasp the production philosophy of Tommasi, made of passion and continuous research of quality. The visit reveals the dedication in every phase of production and traces all the steps of the creation of Tommasi wines : from the visit to the large fruit cellar destined to the grapes drying on bamboo racks, to the entrance in the suggestive vaults in which the family has destined the aging of the wines: in the heart of the Historical Cellar of 1969, where the nose is inebriated by the aromas of grape fermentation in the Gallery of refinement and the eyes are enchanted in front of la “Magnifica” barrel cellar. There you can admire the largest Amarone barrel in Slavonian oak in the world, which holds 333 hectoliters of the velvety divine nectar of Valpolicella.
The Wine Tour is crowned by the final tasting of classic Valpolicella wines: a wonderful tasting experience of the refined fruit of the native vines Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella and Oseleta, grapes that depending on the different vinifications give life to the great classic red wines such as Valpolicella, Ripasso, Amarone and its prestigious reserves, Ca Florian 2011 and De Buris 2008, both full-bodied, powerful and intense.
The common thread that emphasizes the strong ties of Tommasi with the land of origin continues to Verona, in the splendid Piazza dei Signori, where the family owns the Caffè Dante Bistrot. A restaurant that seduces the most gourmet palates with a menu that wants to interpret the excellences of the Verona area and combines aromas, flavors and colors from all over Italy, ranging from a selection of the best Italian cured meats and cheeses to the most traditional local dishes, and joins an assorted wine list, which includes all the Tommasi wines, and that allows the perfect combination of the glass with each dish, for an amazing food experience.
And it is thanks to Tommasi that wine, always known as long-lived “nectar”, becomes an elixir of beauty: you can have a multi-sensory experience based on the “divine Amarone” with the Wine Therapy at the Terme della Valpolicella of Villa Quaranta. A plunge into wellness thanks to the extraordinary antioxidant properties of red grapes which, together with modern manual techniques and chromotherapy, create a regenerating and relaxing action on body and mind. Comfortably lying on a water mattress, you are guided in a ritual that begins with a revitalizing and anti-aging peeling with grape seeds, followed by a relaxing bath with grapeseed oil. You are then pampered with a total body massage with a moisturizing, smoothing and antioxidant action that culminates with the sensational Amarone-based aromatic wrap, for an extraordinary and unforgettable experience.
