Sleep among the vines and taste the best wines of Italy’s female-led wineries: go enjoying an exclusive overnight vineyard stay from the comfort of your campervan and get a “Wine Lover Passport” to collect stamps along your Italian wine route.
The National Association of the Women of Wine (Associazione nazionale Le Donne del Vino) offers to wine lovers again this year a sustainable tourism inspired opportunity of one – night stay among the vines in selected wineries belonging to members of Le Donne del Vino. After last year’s success, the partnership between Le Donne del Vino and TCI Touring Club Italiano aims to bring an enology-led experience closer to those who conceive travel as a journey among nature, territories and people.
In the year that the Italian Women of Wine (Le Donne del Vino) have dedicated to “Women, Wine, Environment” the chance of combing wine tasting and campervan travels, all the while allowing holidaymakers to embrace the joy of discovering local wines along roads lined with acres of vines is something not to be missed.
The data provided by the Italian Food and Wine Tourism Report 2021, edited by Roberta Garibaldi, show a growing attention to the food and wine local scene as well as a new profile of the campervan tourist who is keen on exploring the topics of sustainability, physical well-being and freedom travelling.
The female-led wineries are countless and located in all Italian premium wine producing regions: they create extraordinary labels in natural and historical contexts of great beauty while telling the story behind each bottle. The concept of hospitality constitutes the main focus the Camper Friendly Women of Wine project which intends to propose vineyard locations as privileged destinations for those who travel along the Italian wine trails. For these campervan wine lovers, the Donne del Vino wineries propose special tailor-made picnics (a fee is to be paid) to experience each stop in the cellars as a unique and unforgettable moment.
The absolute novelty of this year is the “Wine Lover passport”, a special document which will be given at the first stopover to allow visitors to get a stamp at each winery they visit. The wine lovers who will have visited at least six Donne del Vino wineries can send their passports to the secretariat of the Association (donne@ledonnedelvino.com) and will receive a prize.
Visit this link to find the list of all wineries that have joined the initiative (reservation is required, please send your request at the e-mail addresses of the wineries).
The Women of Wine (Le Donne del Vino) is a non-profit association with the mission of promoting wine culture and women role throughout the wine production phases.
