FIVI, a new video explains the philosophy behind the Italian Independent Winegrowers Federation

A winemaker who carries a basket full of grapes on his head and whose shadow transform itself in a wine bottle, is the main character of the new animation video dedicated to the FIVI logo, created by the Italian Federation of Independent Winegrowers thanks to the art of Corrado Virgili. The campaign was designed to promote the brand awareness of the FIVI logo, a trademark featured on the bottles’ foils to identify a wine produced by an Independent Winemaker in Italy.

The Federation groups and represents those winemakers managing the entire production line of a wine bottle, personally taking care of all the single phases from the vineyard to the winemaking, including the final bottling.

The FIVI Logo

“Putting the FIVI logo onto the bottles guarantees that this is a wine produced entirely by our winemakers – says Lorenzo Cesconi, vice president of the Federation – and it is a very strong claim of our identity. It is not just a brand, but a symbol: it is like a handshake between the buyer and the winegrower. FIVI was among the first associations, if not the first, to put their distinctive logo on the bottle, proof of a strong sense of belonging. Because being a winemaker is a way of producing, of being, of living. With this video we hope to reach consumers’ homes to make them understand our work and help them choose better when they have to buy a wine. Because if you see that logo on the bottle, you know what you get”.

The video was made by Corrado Virgili, who has been in the computer graphics sector for over 25 years and boasts collaborations with the most important Italian animation cinema productions and with Rai TV.

The Italian Federation of Independent Winegrowers was born in 2008, following the model of the Confédération des Vignerons indépendants de France (VIF). At the beginning of 2008 the FWS, the association grouping Independent Winegrowers from Alto Adige, were contacted by CEVI (Confédération Européenne des Vignerons Indépendants) to create a group that would defend and safeguard the interests of Independent Winegrowers also in Italy with the first Constituent Assembly of FIVI on 17th July 2008, held at the Reggia di Colorno Ducal Palace (Province of Parma).

Nowadays FIVI counts more than 1300 members in Italy (3% of the approximately 42,000 Italian wine producers). Joining FIVI involves the fulfilment of a series of important and essential requirements. The independent winemaker must follow every step of production (from vineyard to marketing, going through processing, wine tasting, and all the bureaucratic and administrative aspects).

FIVI organises various events in order to bring consumers closer to this world. The main one is the “FIVI Independent Winegrowers Wine market” held in Piacenza in autumn: this year it’s scheduled from 28th to 30th November 2020.

FWS, the Independent Winegrowers from Alto Adige, is organising “Vinea Tirolensis 2020″ on 21st October 2020 in Bolzano, the most important tasting event in the association’s events calendar with 73 wineries of Independent South Tyrolean winemakers and their 350 wines.
